Our client The Institute for Turnaround (IFT) produces an annual Societal Impact Report, providing an in-depth analysis of levels of distress within UK businesses.
This year’s research highlighted increasing distress across every region with manufacturing, construction and retail being the hardest hit sectors.
The IFT, which brings together professionals in turnaround and transformation, says its members saved an estimated 55,000 jobs in 2022-23, helping UK companies to add £2.6 billion in shareholder value.
The report also shows that demand for turnaround management services continues to grow. Over 90 per cent of IFT members are busier in 2023 than in 2022, and over 95 per cent expect more turnaround activity in the next 12 months than in the last.
This year’s Societal Impact Report showed that London and the South East had the most distressed businesses, with Wales seeing the biggest increase.
Working with the IFT’s CEO, Milly Camley, to identify the strongest news angles emerging from the report Empica drafted, sold in and issued a range of stories to journalists in the national, regional and sector business media.
Three case studies featuring businesses which have received successful turnaround support from IFT members were also part of our media relations campaign.
The result was widespread coverage for our client in the likes of The Manufacturer, Western Mail, The Journal (Newcastle), Insider and The Business Desk.
